You can see how the star Sirius smoothly move relative to other stars during 2 million years. Throughout the video, Sirius is in the center of the screen.

Sirius is currently located in the Canis Major constellation.

In about 80 thousand years, Sirius will pass in the sky relatively close to the bright star Canopus, and in 200 thousand years – next to the bright bluе star Achernar.

The video was made using own software. Information about the stars is taken from the Hipparcos catalogue.
