This video shows the orbit of asteroid 6037 (1988 EG) and its close approach to the Earth. It is clearly shown that the trajectory of the asteroid passes at a very safe distance from our planet.

This asteroid has made a lot of noise because its diameter can reach almost one kilometer. The fall of a kilometer-long asteroid to Earth can lead to a catastrophe on the scale of an entire continent and mass extinctions. However, almost all asteroids of this size have already been discovered, and they are being closely monitored.

Today, on August 23, 2023, the asteroid 6037 (1988 EG) approached the Earth. The distance between the asteroid and the Earth was about 6 million km.

Scientists will continue to observe this asteroid, because the gravitational perturbations of the planets can gradually change its orbit. The asteroid orbit can change especially noticeably when approaching one of the planets.

Modeling and rendering were performed by author of AstroTubo channel using own software. The calculations took into account the mutual influence of the Sun, all the planets of the Solar System, the Moon and the asteroid on each other. Relativistic effects were also taken into account in the calculation.
